Hudson City Schools offers the Horizon One Source System in its cafeterias. This technology allows us to provide debit accounts for purchases, and increases the speed of food service to students so they have more time to eat and converse. The Horizon One Source System also eliminates the overt identification of students who are eligible for free or reduced meal benefits.
Parents may add money to their child's lunch account as follows:
* Online payments may be made at My Payments Plus. Click image above to be linked there.
* Send in a check or cash payment to your child's school. Make checks payable to Hudson City Schools.
* When sending check or cash payments, please clearly reference your student's ID number.
To increase the speed of the lines, students at Ellsworth Hill, McDowell, East Woods, and Hudson Middle School are identified by a biometric finger scan when they make lunch purchases. The imaging device converts the finger image into a numbered pattern. This image is not associated with fingerprints and cannot be used to identify students by comparing fingerprints with the numbered pattern recorded. There are several layers of security built into this system, and it is not connected to the Internet. Hudson High School and Evamere do not use biometrics; instead, keypads and student ID cards are used to ring lunch purchases.
Students will be served a lunch, regardless of their account balance. However, students must have monies on account in order to purchase a la
carte items. Once a student’s lunch account balance falls
below $5.00, parents will receive a reminder call from the E-connect system
regarding the student’s low account status.
Parents may also sign up for an email alert through mypaymentsplus.com.
We urge you to take full advantage of our system by placing money into your child’s account on a weekly, monthly, or annual basis. Check or cash payments deposited in the blue envelopes in the district offices will be posted within 48 hours for purchasing. Any money not spent by the end of school year will be available for your child’s use the following school year.
Please remember, we will not be accepting money during the lunch lines to decrease the amount of time students wait in line, and increase the amount of time they have to eat.
